Presenting ... “Thirteen Things That Don’t Make Sense” (waag_rel081) by Kevin Lyons

I’ve spoken before of my love for weird fiction and the pleasure I have in pairing the writings of Lovecraft to deliciously “out there” music … with “Thirteen Things That Don’t Make Sense” is Kevin Lyons I now have a new addition to my collection.

This is Kevin Lyons’ latest solo offering on weareallghosts, an album full of the kind of atmospheric ambient electronica that Lyons excels at and I just love to consume. It isn’t an album that can be easily described other than to say the tracks featured paint wonderfully vibrant and imaginative pictures in your mind … if you allow them to.

Take “Not so constant constants” for example: Lyons use of water samples has deep diving in some forgotten cove … a fantastic mental picture or it would be, if it weren’t for my irrational fear of running open water. That said, laying aside my phobia, it is an excellent track.

A 320kbps version of this release will be available over on Archive for free with a lossless version available on Bandcamp for ‘pay what you want’ which does include ‘free’. If you decide to download this album here for free, and you can with our best wishes, then all we ask is that you please tell people about it.

Presenting ... Cousin Silas' thirty-first dronescape

I am a huge fan of Cousin Silas’ dronescape series and get rather excited when I receive a link to the latest edition … I am genuinely surprised that we are now on the thirty-first edition AND the soundscapes presented seem to be getting better and better.

The thirty-first dronescape from Cousin Silas has me in space. It is a wet Saturday in Scotland, the 13th February to be exact … I am sitting in my living room looking out to rainy sleet and a greyish sky … and Cousin Silas has me in space, drifting peacefully with no real idea which way up is. Pure, unadulterated escapism!

That’s what I want from a dronescape: an escape. This escape may enable me to concentrate and find my flow … or it may allow me to chill out for 70 minutes … regardless of my personal reasoning, I’m looking to escape and Cousin Silas delivers with Dronescape 031 (as he has with the other thirty).

I hope you find your escape.

A 320kbps version of this release will be available over on Archive for free with a lossless version available on Bandcamp for ‘pay what you want’ which does include ‘free’. Presenting ... "Tales Of Space Exploration 35-42 (waag_rel080)" by Brother Saturn

Brother Saturn continues his “Tales Of Space Exploration” series with a further 8 tracks … picking up where he left off in waag_rel061 and expanding the now familiar themes of travel, desolation, home and of loneliness.

Drew Miller really nails it with these tracks … they have a cinematic quality that I find endearing, I found myself playing this album on repeat and losing myself to the moment.

I would highly recommend you collate all 42 tracks together into one playlist, they are very special to me.

As before, Adam Howie has expertly expressed these themes in his cover art. His piece - “Rest no more, weary traveller” - will be available for sale as a print at devinatArt (kimded.deviantart.com/prints/) and RedBubble (redbubble.com/people/lurchkimded). Please support Howie’s work by buying a print.

A 320kbps version of this release will be available over on Archive for free with a lossless version available on Bandcamp for ‘pay what you want’ which does include ‘free’. If you decide to download this album here for free, and you can with our best wishes, then all we ask is that you please tell people about it.
