Presenting ... "The Sound of Silas (waag_CDr001)" by Cousin Silas ... CD + Download

Just realised I hadn't posted on here about our first CD + Download release ... "The Sound of Silas (waag_CDr001)" by Cousin Silas.

Here are some details on the CD:

The first weareallghosts physical release features photography by Oleg Tishkovets in a beautiful fold out digipack created by Brin Coleman (aka Bing Satellites) for scramsons.co.uk
The music on this double CD was mastered by Tim Jones
The first CD contains remastered 'classics' along with a brand new mini dronescape whereas the second CD contains approximately 70 minutes of brand new music.
On the inside Kevin Lyons waxes lyrical for the liner notes, giving us food for thought on his pal Silas.
The physical copy will contain a weareallghosts badge and a postcard with a download code to a remix album with tracks revisioned by Jack Hertz, Kevin Lyons, Bing Satellites, Shane Morris and Ade Hodges. This remix album is only available via this CD.
This is the first time we have released a CD so please, please be patient. We aim to get the CDs in the post as near to release date as possible.

When you pre-order the CD, you get 5 tracks now (streaming via the free Bandcamp app and also available as a high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more), plus the complete album the moment it's released on the 29th September 2014.

Packages will ship on or just after the 29th September too.

There will only be 100 made ... and I'm pleased to say we have pre-orders for 54 so far. The CDs are £10 + Postage & Packing (which varies depending on where you live).

Here's what the CD looks like:

The album is also available as a download, priced at £8.

Here's what Kevin Lyons had to say about the album ...

Cousin Silas has been creating extraordinarily beautiful ambient music since 2001, drawing inspiration as much from the work of J.G. Ballard and H.P. Lovecraft as from Brian Eno or Michael Brooks. He's so far put his name to over fifty releases and made innumerable appearances on compilations and collaborative works. Highly prolific (he'll very likely have another album out by the time you've finished reading these notes...) and always eager to collaborate, he is pleasingly consistent and his back catalogue is one any musician would be proud to call their own.
This long-overdue compilation of some of his finest work on the weareallghosts netlabel is the perfect showcase for the breadth of his sound. Blending software synthesisers, piano and guitar into beguiling soundscapes; Silas has the enviable ability to make every release sound distinct from the last, while still retaining the trademarks that mark him out from the ambient crowd. Like all musicians, techniques, styles and ideas recur throughout his work but as you'll discover here, no two pieces are ever the same.
As you'll find as you navigate your way through the Sound of Silas he is as adept at the darker, more disturbing form of ambient as he at the more uplifting and joyous, ranging from the brooding intensity of the aptly named Into the Dark (parts 1 and 7) to the shimmering tranquillity of Endless Summer. You'll find drones and beats, melodies and abstract sounds all rubbing sonic shoulders in this wide-ranging and endlessly rewarding collection. Disc 2 features all new material, much of it recorded on Silas' impressive collection of guitars using a Fishman Triple Play MIDI pick-up. The mix of synthetic sounds and the organic nature of the guitar give these tracks a life and beauty that a simple keyboard alone could never manage.
If you're new to the music of Cousin Silas, you're in for a treat. If you're an old hand, you'll already know some of the pleasure you can expect from this collection. Turn out the lights, put on your headphones and immerse yourself - and there's no better word that suits this music than 'immersive' - and revel in the many and varied sounds of Cousin Silas.
