Presenting ... Stratus Caster (waag_rel145) by Thomas Jackson Park

I'll admit to being new to Generative Music, it is not something I was aware was "a thing" until Thomas Jackson Park pitched the idea to me for his track on last year's compilation, all|is|bright_2020 ... I was intrigued and did a bit of digging. According to Wikipedia, Generative Music is a term popularised by Brian Eno to describe music that is ever-different and changing, and that is created by a system. I was further intrigued and, through our correspondence, Jackson Park let me hear an album of his generative compositions ... I was more than a little impressed with what is now called "Stratus Caster".

During this correspondence, Jackson Park patiently tried to explain his process to me: he uses Python code in a Generative/Iterative context with keywords employed to help him assemble a number of different possible sounds for unique ensemble roles. The code creates a large amount of possibilities that Jackson Park then brings together to create "Stratus Caster".

I find the whole thing fascinating and welcome this new idea to weareallghosts as I welcome back Jackson Park.

I hope you will find something engaging about what has been curated for your listening pleasure.

A 320kbps version of this release is available, for free, over on Archive with a lossless version available on Bandcamp for ‘pay what you want’.
