Presenting ... Modified Dronescapes And Other Assorted Misdemeanours (waag_rel078) by Cousin Silas

As I type this on Black Friday I am sitting in my house, at a small IKEA desk, listening to a Czech radio show who have featured the music of weareallghosts. It is raining outside, which is no surprise - it is November in the West of Scotland after all, and I am still nursing a concussion I received last week when I fell in the shower and hit my head on the toilet bowl.

Taking this time out has really helped me to prioritise my life: I love my family and my friends, I love my job and desperately miss it, and I love music, especially the kind of atmospheric music I promote on my podcast and release through my netlabel.

These are my priorities.

You must share in my love of atmospheric music if you are reading this. And you must share in my love of the music of one of my dearest friends too.

Cousin Silas is an inspiration, his creativity knows no bounds. When I proposed the idea of him doing a longform ambient piece he was rather reticent: he didn’t see the artistry in this style of music. I’m glad I was able to encourage him to pursue what became his Dronescape series, they have become a very popular part of weareallghosts’ musical offering. Knowing I am not alone in appreciating his particular take on longform drones is comforting.

Silas’ creativity is a restless energy, paradoxically the more he gives away the more he has to give. I find this fascinating and was very encouraging when Silas began to release on his Soundcloud reworkings of his Dronescapes - cutting them down and adding his trademark ambient guitar to make them more accessible, more palatable to folks who may not be able to appreciate a single sub-80 minute piece.

I am delighted to bring a collection of these edited Dronescapes to you. I hope you will enjoy them as much as I do.

A 320kbps version of this release will be available over on Archive for free with a lossless version available on Bandcamp for ‘pay what you want’ which does include ‘free’. If you decide to download this album here for free, and you can with our best wishes, then all we ask is that you please tell people about it.

Tx
