Presenting ... Seclusion (waag_rel138) by Gurdonark

"Seclusion (waag_rel138)", the latest album from my dear friend Robert H. Nunnally Jr aka Gurdonark, was created during the Covid-19 pandemic. It features his futuristic lullabies, collages that have been informed and inspired by the lockdown. A sense of unease and of distance pervades these soundscapes ... a  vast yet wistful emptiness that is expressed through uncertainty and dissonance.

These are uneasy times and this is uneasy music for these uneasy times ... but with the right attitude and a wee bit of effort, I hope you will find Gurdonark's latest a rewarding one.

Presenting ... LOOKING BACK moving forward VOL.001

LOOKING BACK moving forward VOL.001 features new music from Cousin Silas, Kevin Lyons, David Gerard, and Brother Saturn; tracks that will either appear on new releases in 2016 or are exclusive to this compilation.

As with last year’s compilation, there will be a small charge for the music featured during the month of January. All proceeds will be donated to HOSPICE UK, a charity based in the UK that supports the development of hospice care in the UK and internationally.

weareallghosts is my main side-project and something I do for the love of it. My main employment is as a Senior Business Analyst in Glasgow, Scotland; my employer actively and generously supports HOSPICE UK and doubles any donation made by her staff - by paying for this album (22p per track) we will hopefully be able to raise some money for a really great cause and give a little good back into the world.

The album will not be available on Archive although you will be able to stream it on Soundcloud.

My sincere thanks to everyone who released their music on weareallghosts in 2015 … and to Cousin Silas and Kevin Lyons for helping me choose the tracks featured.

Here’s to 2016 … we will feature some new names along with all the old favourites this year. I hope you enjoy what’s to come as much as I do!

Presenting ... “Constellation Blackbird (waag_rel068)” by Gurdonark

I have a whole heap of love for the experimental electronic weirdbient music of Robert H Nunnally Jnr aka Gurdonark. It is so different and out there from the rest of weareallghost’s roster.

“Constellation Blackbird (waag_rel068)” continues the musical journey Gurdonark first started with WAAG back in late 2012 with  “Open Spaces (waag_rel009)”. This isn’t easy listening: it has dissonant frequencies, naive sounds and glitchy melodies that may not be instantly accessible. However I, for one, enjoy his particular style of minimalist expressionism … I look on it aural ginger that cleanses the palate from a meal of ambient sushi.

It is relatively easy to call your music experimental, it is a whole other thing to live, like Nunnally, an experimental life. For me, “Constellation Blackbird (waag_rel068)” is an outpouring of such a life lived on the edges; one immersed in the open, sharing Creative Commons culture.

I welcome this recording and am delighted to welcome Nunnally back to weareallghosts. I hope you enjoy “Constellation Blackbird (waag_rel068)” as much as I do.

Presenting... "Open Spaces (waag_rel009)" by Gurdonark

I consider it an honour and a privilege to call Gurdonark a friend. He has wonderfully alternative view on life that i find inspiring. He’s not a hippie or anything ... he just isn't consumed with consumer things ... he is all about open source, community, creative commons and sharing ... in fact, it is what he gives ... what he brings to the table ... that inspires me more. He is a wise sage in a post-modern world ... a photomystic who chases ’feel’ rather than mega-pixels ... someone who equally at home in the outdoors spotting birds or in his ’space’ creating lullabies in the key of now.

I am so proud to present “Open Spaces (waag_rel009)” ... a short collection of said lullabies. Music that is deliciously quirky but undeniably catchy ... music that packs so much in 23 minutes but still retains an air of elegant minimalism.

Unfortunately my two daughters are now in double figures ... so I can’t test the release’s lullaby quotient on them ... but it works for me so I can only surmise that it would have worked for them too: somatic soundscapes for busy days.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

I am proud to announce that Monday, 19th November will see the release of "Open Spaces" by weirdbient artist and dear friend, Gurdonark.

I was delighted when Gurdonark offered to release some of his music via my wee netlabel and was not disappointed when he sent through the tracks that make up "Open Spaces". These are lullabies in the key of now... and I find them fascinating.

I hope you will too.
