Drew Brady aka Brother Saturn, one of the stalwarts of weareallghosts, is back on waag with a new album entitled "Silence Your Heart".

Featuring their easily recognisable deeply layered, looped and manipulated guitar, "Silence Your Heart" is another wonderful example of how Drew continues to grow as an ambient musician.

The soundscapes on this recording are an absolute delight, they are emotive and considered, and evidently crafted with care and intent by Drew.

The inspiration for the album came from an intensely emotional period for Drew ... as they said, when we were discussing the release, sometimes you need to silence your heart and listen to your brain to get through things.

"Silence Your Heart" has been near the top of my listening rotation since Drew released it on his own Bandcamp page - brothersaturn.bandcamp.com/album/silence-your-heart - on February 3rd ... and I am proud to release it here on waag with an exclusive bonus track, "A Story Of Storied Stories", a 9-minute opus that is very much in keeping with the sound of waag.

I am grateful to Drew for entrusting this album to waag and giving us a wee exclusive ... I hope you find this album as rewarding as I have.

Presenting ... Tales of Space Exploration 43​-​50 (waag_rel139) by Brother Saturn

 It's been a while ... more than four years since the last instalment in the "Tales of Space Exploration" series from Brother Saturn aka Drew Miller ... and in that time Drew has grown as a musician and as a person.

We have heard from Drew in the intervening time ... "Unstable Lands (waag_rel087)", "Apollo, can you hear me? (waag_rel104)", and "Music for Sleep (waag_rel130)" ... but there has always been a desire, at least for me, to revisit the familiar themes of travel, desolation, home and of loneliness; the themes the "Tales of ..." series so eloquently describe.

I am so glad that the series continues ... and hope you are too?

I am delighted to welcome Mason Van Kraayenburg who contributes to the track "Night Owls & Hummingbirds" and gives us all the feels with his guitar playing ... it is a collaboration that shows a new level of maturity from Miller, one that I welcome with open arms.

I also welcome Adam Howie's artwork and am so grateful that he agreed to work with us again ... it just wouldn't be the same without his masterful illustration gracing the cover of the latest "Tales of ..." release. Presenting ... Music for Sleep (waag_rel130) by Brother Saturn

Sleep is starting to become a theme for WAAG, what with me talking about sleep for Dronescape 042 and now this cracker of an album ... "Music For Sleep (waag_rel130)" ... from long-term contributor, Drew Miller aka Brother Saturn.

There’s something magical about this album. It reminds me of old slightly wonky sleep-tapes and the glorious ambient music we are all fond of ... the music that works just as well front and centre as it does in the background ... fluid chords that shimmer and dance to form the most delightful of soundscapes.

This is an album that really does show an artist growing in both ability and confidence ... Drew has used all midi-based electronics and synth sounds, instead of his trusty guitars for the first time ... and it shows.



This album will also be released on Symbolic Insight, an avant-garde label from the North West of the United States, who are preparing a short-run physical release ... so if you dig what you hear, please keep an eye out over at symbolicinsight.bandcamp.com and support Drew by buying a CD.

How do you follow up 12 hours of creative expression from a master & his friends?

By releasing the best work yet by Brother Saturn, that's how!

I was genuinely worried as to how to follow Cousin Silas' recent magnum opus (a series of recordings that have raised nearly £400 for charity at the time of my typing) but when I heard what Drew Miller aka Brother Saturn had for me, I was delighted.

"Apollo, can you hear me?" is possibly Brother Saturn's best work to date, certainly his best work on weareallghosts. It is an exploration of subtle, dreamy electronics in a languid, luscious longform ambient manner. It is as much about restraint as it is about expression, Miller has not let his wonderfully five-steps-ahead creative mind runaway but has, instead, kept it tightly constrained and, in doing so, created an engaging collection of tracks that are cohesive, coherent and downright enjoyable.

"Apollo..." is best consumed through a good pair of headphones, preferably in a darkened room so as to allow yourself to become full immersed in the otherworldliness of the soundscapes presented. Let your imagination run wild, take the cues in the music and create your own narrative and, in doing so, come to cherish this album, as I have.

Drew Miller really nails it with these tracks … they have a cinematic quality that I find endearing, I found myself playing this album on repeat and losing myself to the moment.

Presenting ... LOOKING BACK moving forward VOL.001

LOOKING BACK moving forward VOL.001 features new music from Cousin Silas, Kevin Lyons, David Gerard, and Brother Saturn; tracks that will either appear on new releases in 2016 or are exclusive to this compilation.

As with last year’s compilation, there will be a small charge for the music featured during the month of January. All proceeds will be donated to HOSPICE UK, a charity based in the UK that supports the development of hospice care in the UK and internationally.

weareallghosts is my main side-project and something I do for the love of it. My main employment is as a Senior Business Analyst in Glasgow, Scotland; my employer actively and generously supports HOSPICE UK and doubles any donation made by her staff - by paying for this album (22p per track) we will hopefully be able to raise some money for a really great cause and give a little good back into the world.

The album will not be available on Archive although you will be able to stream it on Soundcloud.

My sincere thanks to everyone who released their music on weareallghosts in 2015 … and to Cousin Silas and Kevin Lyons for helping me choose the tracks featured.

Presenting ... Sunburst (waag_rel077) by Brother Saturn

Drew Miller aka Brother Saturn is a busy guy, he creates music under a number of monikers including Brother Saturn and Chromadrift. I have enjoyed watching his growth as a musician and am proud of the Brother Saturn releases I’ve put out on weareallghosts.

“Sunburst” is his latest work as Brother Saturn and it is, by my reckoning, his most accomplished to date. There is a dreamy, analogue otherworldliness about his compositions here: it is experimental ambient music that feeds the head and provides a decidedly quirky escape from the day-to-day, music that remains accessible and doesn’t get too out-there or overwrought.

I hope you enjoy this release as much as I do. I look forward to more from someone who is on the up.

This is one piece of music that must be experienced, words alone do not do it justice. It is, as the title suggests, transcendental.

Presenting ... "Tales of Space Exploration 1-8 (waag_rel020)" by Brother Saturn

I've know Drew Miller aka Brother Saturn for a wee while now. I'm a big fan of his album "Everest" recorded under his other moniker The Northern Hemisphere … and was deeply intrigued when he approached me to release his first ambient-orientated album via weareallghosts.

I was intrigued on a number of points: what would his ambient work sound like? will it fit with weareallghosts? why waag rather than self-publishing? could he wait for my schedule?

All these questions were answered when I heard "Tales of Space Exploration 1-8 (waag_rel020)" … everything became clear and I said 'Yes'.

I love this album and believe it is an excellent fit with weareallghosts. What's more … I am delighted to bring Miller's work to a new audience … and, hopefully, bring waag's roster to Miller's loyal following.

I am delighted with Miller's approach to these tracks … he has dispensed with his trademark polyrhythmic and, at times, dissonant layering for a more refined, gentler sound … and am proud to welcome him to the weareallghosts 'fold'.

Before I go, it would be remiss of me not to mention the fantastic illustration that Adam Howie provided. Unfortunately I didn't have any photos relating to space exploration in my private stock and needed help. I asked Howie and he delivered … and not just the cover art but wallpapers to adorn your digital toys. Thank you Adam.
